The love of curriculum design and thinking outside of the box, led me to pursue another degree in instructional design. Having been a teacher for nine years at the middle school and high school level, a school administrator at all levels of K-12 instruction, a district coordinator for alternative education and a state of Utah curriculum and teaching specialist, I had a solid foundation in understanding how people learn. My toolbox for creating innovative, interactive and engaging instruction grew with my experience in the workplace and continuing education.
With a strong focus on the process and performance tools to improve assessment and evaluation, I set out on my educational journey with the intent of accurately measuring for learning. I now use Kirkpatrick’s model to determine if learning has occurred, behaviors changed and practices reflect the new knowledge.
Having found a true love of working with stakeholders, customers and authoring tools, I now am able to create platforms in which learning can be exciting, effectively measured and modified as needed not just instructor led but also in hybrid and online modalities.
